With each attack come condemnation, relief packages, VIP visits and then brickbats. Politicians attack, friends grieve and colleagues praise.

ganga

The UPA government has decided to declare Ganga as a national river to preserve its uniformity and sacredness. A high powered Ganga River Basin Authority will be set up to protect Ganga from pollution and soil degradation. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will head the Authority. Chief Ministers of the states through which Ganga flows, will be the members.

The above decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Other persons who attended the meeting were Ministers of Water Resources, Environment and Forests and Urban Development.

The Nasik court sent Sadhvi Pragya Singh, a prime accused in the Malegaon bomb blast case, to judicial custody till November 17. Two other accused Shiv Narayan and Shyamlal Sahu were also sent to judicial custody.

The Mumbai ATS arrested three other persons in connection with the blasts. They were remanded to police custody till November 10. The police claimed that one of the arrested, Ajay Raikar financed the terror group, which was involved in the Malegaon bomb blast. Six imported weapons were recovered from Ajay Raikar, the treasurer of Abhinav Bharat. Mumbai ATS is likely to conduct another narco test on Pragya Singh. It could be recalled that narco test and brain mapping conducted on Sadhvi Pragya Singh produced no results.

“I will speak when I get justice.”, said Pragya in the court. Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, argued her own case in the court. Pragya told the court that she and the two others arrested along with her were innocent and were being framed as part of a game plan to defame Hindutva movement. She also alleged torture by ATS officials during her interrogation before and after her formal arrest.

Meanwhile, hundreds of Shiv Sena, BJP, Hindu Maha Sabha and Abhinav Bharat workers shouted slogans against the Maharashtra government and Mumbai ATS outside the Nasik court. They also shouted slogans in favour of Sadhvi Pragya Singh. Shiv Sena has accused that UPA government is hatching a conspiracy to defame the Hindu organizations. RSS and BJP also came out in open to support Pragya Singh and questioned the theories of Mumbai ATS.

he death toll in the serial blasts that rocked Guwahati and upper Assam in the morning, reached 50 with more injured succumbing to the injuries in the hospitals. People, who browsed for ‘NE News’ or ‘Assam News’ in the morning, got a rude shocker, as terrorists carried out 11 blasts in Guwahati, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar and Barpeta. In Guwahati, Dispur Road, Pan Bazar, Fancy Bazar and Ganeshguri Flyover have been targeted.

The impact of the serial blasts was so high that people and vehicles both charred beyond recognition. The dead bodies were seen lying here and there. Over 200 people were injured in the blasts. They are being treated in various hospital. Forensic experts believed that IDE and RDX of high intensity were used to trigger the blasts. The blasts were carried out in a planned manner and Assam government failed to prevent the blasts even though it was repeatedly warned by the Centre.

Although ULFA’s involvement in the serial blasts in Assam is suspected, the intelligence sources believe that Bangladesh-based HuJI could be behind the blasts. The recent communal clashes between local Assamese and Bangladeshis are being attributed to the serial blasts in Assam. Some Islamic terrorist organizations may have carried out the blasts to seek revenge. However, nothing can be said at the moment, as the investigation is still going on. The recent Assam blasts shook the nation, which just celebrated Diwali two days ago.

As expected, Union Home Ministry, Prime Minister and many other leaders have condemned the serial bomb blasts in Assam. Union MoS for Home Shakeel Ahmed tried to take a swipe on BJP and other Sangh Parivar groups even though he was asked about Assam bomb blasts. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi looked lost to find words, while the AGP demanded the immediate resignation of the government.

The BJP, which has been gunning for the head of the UPA government on the issue of terrorism, is on a defensive after the Mumbai ATS proved the Saffron angle to Malegaon blasts. The blame game, which began a few months ago, is not on its peak and no political party is trying to address the real issue. They are just worried about their vote banks. In such a situation, it won’t be surprising, if we witness more terror attacks in the country over the next few months.

Seven Union ministers belonging to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, including T R Baalu and A Raja, will be meeting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at 8 pm in Chennai today to submit their resignation from the Lok Sabha. This is part of the DMK’s tactic to force the central government to act decisively vis a vis the Sri Lankan Tamils.

This is a major political challenge to the prime minister and is bound to embroil the United Progressive Alliance government in a serious crisis.

That the DMK has chosen Friday 8 pm in Chennai to flex its muscles means that its 16 Lok Sabha and three Rajya Sabha MPs will not be attending to either their ministerial office or Parliament from Monday.

The DMK is determined to create further trouble for the UPA government by raising the heat over the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.

As part of this strategy, Monday onwards the seven ministers will not be a part of the treasury benches.

This decision is bound to put Congress ministers like P Chidambaram and Mani Shankar Aiyar, also from Tamil Nadu, in an embarrassing position. Given the sentiments involved, can they ignore the highly emotive issue?

The question uppermost on the minds of political observers is, given this major crisis facing his government, will the prime minister undertake his China visit scheduled for next week?

When Vajpayee Govt was nearing its end the DMK walk out of the ministry and the alliance, because they felt that BJP will lose power. Now, they are doing it again at the fag end of MMS govt term, because they are again sensing that congress and UPA wont be returned to power after the next general election. And this sudden love for Tamils is an insult to those Tamils.

While Mk speaks for Tamils in Sri Lanka, why he has not cared for Indians in India

Why didnt your ministers resign for price rise?
Why didnt your ministers resign for petrol rise?
Why didnt your ministers resign for raise of terrorism in India? Many Indians died in terror act.

When the rate per barrel of petrol has come down to $71 from $146, this UPA Govt has not decreased the price of petrol? Have you or your party highlighted on this?

First, why dont you try to save Tamils in Tamil Nadu by giving 24 hours uninterrupted electricity?

First think of Indians in India, Tamilians in Tamil Nadu. Then you can cry for Tamils in Sri Lanka.

We were deprived for 5000 years , now is not enough reason that srilanka should provide 69% reservation to tamilians ?
We will bring down your govt in case indian govt does not attack srilanka and force them to change constitution and provide 69% reservation

Just imagine if people working in LTTE gets a govt job will they like living in forests ,etc

I also demand a “tamil ratna” award to be given to all LTTE supporter.

SP General Secretary Amar Singh along with Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banjeree met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pratibha Patil on Tuesday and apprised them of how farmers faced a tough time in Singur due to anti-farmer policies of the West Bengal government.

“I met the PM and President on behalf of SP and TC along with Banerjee and apprised them of how farmers in Singur and common man suffered due to failure of the state government and Tatas to honour an agreement brokered by West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi on return of farmers’ land,” Singh said.

Banerjee and her party were not anti-industry but only wanted return cultivable land to farmers, as per the terms of the agreement signed between her and the state government.

Accusing the Tatas of ditching people of West Bengal, especially Singur, over their failure to honour the terms of the agreement and leaving the state for Gujarat, Singh wondered whether Ratan Tata wants to be industrialist or a politician.

“Ratan Tata spoke about Good M (Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi) and Bad M (Mamata Banerjee). On what basis did he make this comment. Mamata Banerjee only wanted the surplus land of farmers to be given back to them, while we all know how ‘good’ Modi is.

“We want Tata’s reply by this evening whether he wants to remain an industrialist or a politician,” Singh said.

The SP general secretary, who had last month shared the dais with Mamata when she was agitating in Singur against Tatas Nano Car project, had said at that time that “they (Tatas) have acquired 1,000 acres. Trinamool Congress has only asked them to return the excess land to farmers”.

Singh said that both PM and President gave them a patient hearing and promised to take action in the matter within the purview of Constitution.

Pointing out that the TC leader has always fought for the rights of farmers, the SP leader said she will also agitate in Noida for the rights of farmers there who have lost their lands because of SEZ projects.

“I have met and told Commerce Minister Kamal Nath and Finance Minister P Chidambaram that the government should review its SEZ policy, as this SEZ is more of a Social Exploitation Zone, which is affecting the farmers,” he said.

Banerjee who was also present alongside Singh told reporters that they have “requested the President and PM to take action under Article 355 in West Bengal over the failure of the state government to honour the agreement which was brokered by Governor.”

Attacking the Left Front government in West Bengal, Banerjee said, “the Left parties had withdrawn support to the UPA government over the nuclear deal while they themselves failed to honour salient features of the agreement they signed with us over returning excess land to farmers in Singur.”

She wondered why the state government did not think of investing in infrastructure during its three decade long rule in the state.

Banerjee also criticised Tatas who she said “have money to publicise against us and there seems to be some politics behind their exit from the state”. She further emphasised that she only wanted a fair deal for the farmers.

Mayawati has cancelled the allotment of land for a railway coach factory in Sonia Gandhi’s constituency Rae Bareli, just three days before the Congress chief was scheduled to attend a ceremony at the site to mark the beginning of construction.

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister’s decision is being seen by state Congress leaders as a move targeted at Sonia Gandhi. She is believed to have been unhappy with a rally Sonia Gandhi held last month in Dadri against land acquisition from farmers in Badalpur, Mayawati’s village.

Considered a dream project of the Congress chief, the rail factory with an investment of Rs 1,689.25 crore was expected to provide employment to at least 10,000 people from the area.

The move marks a new low in the relationship between Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party and the Congress-led coalition at the Centre, which she had supported from outside till early this year. It is expected to raise the temperature in the run-up to the general elections next year.

But state government officials said Mayawati’s order on Saturday canceling the allotment of 189.25 hectare near Lalganj had everything to do with opposition from villagers.

Principal Secretary (Information) Vijay Shankar Pandey told reporters on Sunday that the government’s decision was based on the district magistrate’s report about resentment among farmers over the acquisition of land.

The government had allotted the land on May 19 this year.

Rae Bareli district magistrate Santosh Srivastava in his October 10 report to the state government said that “land acquisition could lead to law and order problems in Rae Bareli”, Pandey said.

The DM said the proposed factory required nearly 700 acre land and farmers were afraid that their land might be acquired for the purpose.

Pandey added that instructions had been issued for the arrangement of alternative land for the project. “As of now there is no land for the project,” Pandey said.

Reacting sharply, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) spokesman Akhilesh Pratap Singh said: “The decision had once again demonstrated that the BSP government was against development of the state.”

Local Congress leaders said though Sonia Gandhi won’t have the Bhoomi Pujan of the rail project to attend, she might still address a scheduled rally at Lalganj on October 14. “Sonia Gandhi’s programme is still on. It may take place in some form or the other,” said Kishori Lal Sharma, a party leader making preparations for the rally.

UPCC chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi said people of Dehar, Sohawal and Bannamau villages had given their consent in writing for the acquisition and that the “state government’s move will stall development”.

She said the state government had not given the go-ahead to three other projects being set up in Rae Bareli.

Australia captain Ricky Ponting said India had a negative approach during the drawn first Test on Monday.

“We were the only ones trying to take the game forward,” said Ponting after India finished on 177-4 having been set an unlikely winning target of 299.

“We played aggressive cricket. I am not surprised by the way they played, the Indian team play a lot of drawn games. We dominated this Test match.”

The sides now head to Mohali for the second Test, which starts on Friday.

Ponting said he went into the final day in Bangalore expecting “a really good contest”.

“We got some extra runs we thought might have needed. We gave it our best shot with the ball but we just didn’t create enough opportunities,” he added.

“We could not win it at the end, but it was a pretty good start to the series for us.”

India paceman Zaheer Khan, who was man-of-the-match after claiming five wickets in the tourists’ first innings and also scoring an unbeaten 57, said Australia’s failure to force victory meant they would be under more pressure in the rest of the series.

“They know they can’t take our 20 wickets. They couldn’t get me and Bhajji (Harbhajan Singh) out, what else do you want? They are under pressure, we know that,” he said.

“On a fifth day wicket their spinners couldn’t do us any harm. That tells everyone what their spin attack is all about.

“Even their pacers, they didn’t look like getting a wicket, especially on the fifth day on a wicket like this.”

There has been a huge hue and cry over the financial health of ICICI Bank during the recent market meltdown. The ICICI Bank suffered huge losses, causing panic among the investors. But everyone forgot that ICICI Bank remains a big power in the banking sector and it has enough money to overcome any temporary crisis.

The rumours, speculations and all permutations and combinations proved wrong, as the ICICI Bank led the market surge yesterday. Only a few days ago, situation was so bad that ICICI Bank MD and CEO KV Kamath, Finance Minister P Chidambaram and the RBI had to step in to assure the investors of ICICI Bank’s stability and growth.

It is not known whether some vested interests played the spoilsport by indulging in a malicious campaign against the ICICI Bank. But the bank proved anyone wrong and emerged as a strong force to reckon with in the banking industry. ICICI Bank not only managed to generate trust and confidence among its investors, but led the way in market surge. As a result, other banks such as HDFC Bank, SBI and others also witnessed good results.

The ICICI Prulife from ICICI Prudential still remains a big hit among the investors. The ICICI Prulife is rated high among other insurance and unit-linked products. It has been a huge relief to see ICICI Bank on top again. Millions of investors in India can now feel safe and secure. Their money should be always safe with ICICI Bank. There is no doubt about this.

Kingfisher Airlines and Jet Airways have entered into a code sharing alliance. The two airliners signed a pact for common fuel management, ground handling, network rationalisation and cross-crew use. They will also work together on cross-sales and staff training. The new alliance between Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines has much significance, as it does not have any equity implication.

The National Integration Council (NIC) meeting was dominated by the issues such as terrorism and anti-Christian violence. While the UPA leaders tried to focus only on anti-Christian violence and Communalism, the BJP-led NDA tried to take a swipe at the UPA government on the issue of rising terror activities in the country.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh expressed deep regret and anguish over the communal violence in Assam, Orissa and Karnataka. The NIC adopted a resolution condemning all acts of violence and terrorism and resolved to deal with such activities firmly. Gujarat CM Narendra Modi stole the show by taking the UPA government into task on the issue of terrorism. The BJP CMs demanded a tough terror law, which was rejected by Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil.

On the expected lines, Samajwadi Party, CPI and CPM warned against targeting the Muslim community as terrorists. The Prime Minister also supported their views. The NIC meet also witnessed a war-of-words between Orissa CM Naveen Patnaik and Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil.

Naveen Patnaik refuted all charges against his government and revealed that Centre had delayed sending forces to tackle the communal violence. Later, he urged everyone to forget all political difference and work together towards the growth and development of all sections of the society.

The NIC, which met after a gap of 3 years, is comprised of 146 members including all Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, leaders of national and regional political parties and eminent personalities. Senior BJPO leader, former Deputy PM and leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, LK Advani, who was invited as #134 to the NIC meet, did not attend, taking it as an insult to his stature. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Jaswant Singh was also not invited to the NIC meet.

Even as the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court ordered a stay on the cancellation of land allotment for Sonia Gandhi’s dream Rail Coach Factory in Rae Bareli, Mayawati sprung another surprise by imposing Section 144 in Rae Bareli on the eve of Sonia Gandhi’s rally.

The government has denied permission for the rally citing law and order problem. The latest development could lead to a bitter face-off between Maywati and Sonia Gandhi.

Mayawati took this decition after some congress minister supports the terrorist. And may be possible that sonia will announce some fund/relief for terrorists. So Mayawati impossess Section 144 in Rae Bareli. As we know that Arjun Singh, Amar singh Supports the terrorist and blam on Delhi Police and ignore the death of mohan chand sharma ( who died in fighiting with terrorist in jamiya nagar). We are very happy and with Mayawati for imposing Section 144 in Rae Bareli. Mayawati and Narendra Modi only two breave leaders in India rest of all are bharwa(hijra).

Condoleezza Rice to arrive in India; Pranab, Rice to sign 123 Agreement

The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will arrive in India today. Rice and External Affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee will sign the 123 Agreement, which was a contentious part of the Indo-US Nuclear Deal. In a veiled threat to India, Rice had warned India of serious consequence if its conducts nuclear test again. Rice had made that statement before the vote in the Senate.

External Affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee played down Condoleezza Rice’s threat and said India always followed a policy of nuclear moratorium, but it reserves the right to conduct nuclear tests if the situation demands so. Opposition parties including BJP and Left have already criticized the government over the nuclear deal. They accused the UPA government of surrendering India’s interest before the US. The Left has declared to observe October 4 as a “Black Day”.

Is Shila dixit Mental?

Delhi CM Shiela Dixit’s comments on the murder of Headlines Today TV journalist Soumya Viswanathan, sent shockwave across the country. While reacting to the murder of Soumya Viswanathan, Sheila Dixit said, “Driving at 3 AM alone in a city, which people believe is not very safe for women after dark…one should not be adventurous”. Although she expressed sympathy for Soumya’s family, Sheila Dixit drew flak from all comments for her “insensitive” comments.

The outrageous statement made by the Chief Minister proved that Delhi government cared little about the women in the city. The CM herself admitted that Delhi is no longer safe for women. Sheila Dixit’s latest statement sparked off a controversy with young women professionals came out in open, slamming the Chief Minister and demanded an apology from her over this issue. The IIMC students sent roses to Shiela Dixit with the message “Get Well Soon” on Gandhi Jayanti.

India enforce Smoking Ban from yesterday, October 2, 2008. But can be assured Government will ban on Smoking Production Company??? I think No Because money matters…

The morning of October 2, 2008 began a new era in India, with the a strict ban has been imposed on smoking on public places from today. Kudos to Health Minister Ambumani Ramadoss and the UPA government for making it possible. In a clear warning to the smokers, the government has enforced the ban on smoking on public places including hotels, restaurants, pubs, offices, shopping malls, hospitals, cinema halls, bus stops, railway stations, schools, colleges, courts and international airports.

The smoking ban comes into force on the 140th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The Union Health Ministry issued a notification for the ban under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution), Act 2003.

The government decided to go ahead with the smoking ban after receiving a green signal from the Supreme Court even though some states like Maharashtra and Bihar had raised objections to it. According to new notification, if somebody is found guilty of smoking in the public places, he/she will have to pay a fine up to Rs. 200.

To enforce the smoking ban strictly, the government has empowered certain officials to impose the penalty on people who violate the rules. Police Officers, Food Inspectors, Excise Inspectors, Gazetted Officers of state and central governments, Teachers, Lecturers, Professors, Bank Officers , CDMO and Doctors have been authorised to prevent smoking in respective areas and impose penalty if required. Managements of the private companies will be responsible to prevent smoking in their company/office premises.

It seems that all terrorist activity in India supported by Congress not by Pakistan and any other country. India only blame on Pakistan.
Arjun Singh ( True son of Man Singh), Gaddar hai ise phansi do….. Manmohan Singh Hijra hai Ise Gaddi se Utar do…

Shocking News! Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh, who is known for his minority appeasement policies, created a flutter by extending support to Mushirul Hasan, the VC of Jamia Milia Islamia on the issue of legal support to arrested “terrorists”. Zia and Shakeel, students of Jamia Milia Islamia University were arrested by the Delhi Police after the Batla House encounter.

It has been established that both Zia and Shakeel were involved in the serial blasts in Ahmedabad and Delhi and they belonged to Indian Mujahideen terror group. However, Jamia VC Mushirul Hasan announced legal support to the terrorists, saying that they are not proven guilty in the court of law. Mushirul, under fire from several quarters, met Arjun Singh, who in turn patted on his back for his “wonderful gesture” towards his students. He even went on to say that Mushirul’s move was in national interest. What an irony!

The UPA government has become really ineffective because of a reticent Prime Minister and few erring Cabinet colleagues. Leaders like Shivraj Patil, Arjun Singh, Shakeel Ahmed, Shripraksh Jaiswal and many others have gone soft on terror because of the dilemma of vote bank politics. They simply don’t want to lose their minority vote bank. When Afzal Guru, mastermind of Parliament attack, could not be hanged despite SC order, the country expects little from these politicians on other terror-related issues. God save this country!

6. Mr. VP Singh for opening Mandal Pendora’s box which resulted in many deaths and still counting.

7. Mr. Arjun Singh, for continuing VP singh’s work and supporting Terrorist in India.

All of these fellows would have been Hung had it not been India.. But as we all know abt the story of “Bhasmasur” all of them met their destiny by their own deeds. Nehru- tragedy of 1962, Indira Gandhi- Khalistan, Rajeev Gandhi- LTTE.

All persons are invited to join “HINDU RAKSHA SANGHATAN”.
