Ek pura din MAA durga ke charno main bitain MAA Durga saare gunahon ko maaf karengi or hamen khushiyan pradan karengi. 7 October ko Maha-Astami hai us din upwas rkhen or Maa ki yaad main pura din bitayen.
Hey Maa Sherawali Hamare gunahon ko maaf kar. Ham tere nadan bachche hai hamen raah dikha hamara kalyaan kar.
JAI MAA KALI, YAI MAA SHERAWALI….

The Supreme power and the mother of all Gods and Goddesses, Maa Durga is the ultimate primordial being and the demon slayer. This Devi with lush black hair, beautiful eyes and ten hands dawned on earth to establish the supremacy of goodness over evil. In a battle fought over a span of ten days, Maa Durga wins the ceaseless battle between Gods and demons. Durga pujo is a way to celebrate this eternal manifestation of truth and purity. Devi Durga, the daughter of Himalaya, is an epitomy of graceful beauty, motherliness, and the strong and valor warrior.

The legend of Maa Durga has several renditions and so does the story behind Durga Puja. According to the most prevalent tale, the male gods of heaven created Devi Durga, the wrathful goddess, an incarnation of Ma Sati (Lord Shiva’s wife). A powerful demon named, Mahishasur (born out of the union of Rambha, the demon king and a water buffalo), who could easily change his form from human to buffalo dethroned Indra, the king of Heavens. This demon was bestowed by a unique boon from Brahmadev, whereby neither Man nor God could defeat him. Utter chaos and dismay prevailed through the entire heaven. All the Gods were shunned out of their golden seats. Defeated and disheartened the Gods request the Trinity (Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh) to save them from annihilation.

The Trinity then comes together and creates a radiantly beautiful woman, Durga. A manifestation of the Supreme Power Adishakti herself, Devi Durga is the embodiment of the three flowing channels of primordial energy (and the subsequent kundalini powers) – Maha Lakshmi (Central Energy Channe), Maha Saraswati (Right Energy Channel) and Maha Kali (Left Energy Channel). These energies mould together to generate the ultimate source of energy as Ma Durga.

All other gods bestow their powers and energies on this beautiful, gracious and eloquent lady. King Himalaya adopts the Devi as his daughter and presents her with the magnificent White Lion that becomes her carrier. Armed with weapons in ten hands and mounted on the lion, Mother Durga descends on earth and there ensues a fierce battle between the Devi and demon Mahishasur. This ferocious battle continues for a span of ten days. Finally on the tenth day, Devi Durga kills Mahishahur with her trident (and hence the day is known as Vijay Dashami).

The festival is a celebration of this ultimate victory of Good over evil. It is said, every year Goddess Durga comes back to her father, Himalaya, along with her four children (Ganesh, Kartik, Lakshmi and Saraswati) during those eternal days of victory. It is an occasion of joy and happiness all over as we celebrate the return of the daughter through Durga Puja.

About Godess Durga

Once a year, in the autumnal month of Ashwin, Goddess Durga comes home to her parents, together with her four children, Ganesh, Laxmi, Karttik and Saraswati, and enjoys all the love and attention lavished on her. Unfortunately, this visit lasts only three days, and on the fourth day she starts on her journey back to her husband’s abode in the mountain kingdom of Kailash.Durga – Goddess of deliverance – comes to earth on the seventh day after the autumn new moon. She is depicted by the ‘kumors’ or potters as a resplendent golden figure standing on a lion’s back, each of her ten arms bearing a particular weapon, as she triumphs over the demon Mahisasura.

In Sanskrit Durga means ” She who is incomprehensible or difficult to reach .” Goddess Durga is a form of Shakti worshipped for her gracious as well as terrifying aspect. Mother of the Universe, she represents the infinite power of the universe and is a symbol of a female dynamism.

Durga, a beautiful warrior seated upon a tiger, was the first appearance of the great goddess. Also called by many other names, such as Parvati, Ambika, and Kali. Destroyer of demons, she is worshipped during Durga puja, most popular among Bengalis.

Durga is worshipped in various other forms also. She is

Uma, “light”;
Gauri , “yellow or brilliant”;
Parvati, “the mountaineer”;
Jagatmata , “the-mother-of-the-world”
Durga “the inaccessible”;
Kali , “the black”;
Chandi , “the fierce”;
Bhairavi , “the terrible.”

There are several Durga puja stories, legends and mythologies. Some of them are about the goddess herself, while others are about Devi Durga’s devotees. These fascinating and marvelous stories have been taking rounds since ages through the oral tradition of literature. The most important story on Ma Durga has been written in ancient scriptures and textbooks. Read about that legend of Maa Durga by clicking on the link. Apart from this traditional story, there are several other renditions about the origin of Durga Pooja. One such story talks about the Pandavas, the famous five brothers from Mahabharata, the great Indian epic.

After losing in a game of dice, the Pandavas go into exile for 12 years and one year in disguise. While disguising themselves, they hid their royal clothes and weapons under a Shammi tree. On the day of Dashami (Dussehra), the Pandavas complete one year of disguised exile, and expose their true identities. It celebrates their true victory over evil and hence the day is known as Vijaya Dashami. Another famous story is related to Lord Rama. Before commencing the battle in Lanka against Ravana, Lord Rama started Chandi Puja (An incarnation of Maa Durga) with hundred and nine lotus flowers. To test the devotion and surrender of Lord Rama, Devi Durga hid one of the lotuses. When time came to pray to the goddess, Rama found himself short of one lotus flower. In order to make up for it, he surrenders his own eye. Immediately, Maa Durga comes out and saves his son and promises him victory. The Durga Puja held during this time is known as Bosonto Utsav.

There are several more stories on the occasion of Durga Puja. Each Durga temple in India has an enchanting and fascinating legend behind it. It is not possible to accumulate these rich and diverse stories in one written page. Maa Durga has always blessed her devotees and taken greatest care of them. Durga Puja is a way to honor this Goddess who is the Mahishasur Mardini and the beautiful and gracious mother.

‘Serial bombs’ hit India’s IT hub
Vidio of Banglore bomb Blast

Seven bombs have hit the southern Indian city of Bangalore within minutes of each other, police say.

One woman was killed and several people injured. Police say bombs were detonated with timing devices.

The blasts have been described as low intensity and all are reported to have occurred in crowded areas.

Bangalore is the information technology hub of India with more than 40% of the country’s IT and software industry based there.

Malls, schools and cinema halls across Bangalore have been shut and police have cordoned off the blast sites.

“We are conducting the investigation. Bomb squads have reached the scene. We appeal to the citizens to carry on their normal activities without any fear,” Bangalore city police commissioner Shankar Bidri said.

Mr Bidri said each of the explosions were of a similar magnitude to one or two grenades.

Police said a woman died in the explosion at Madiwala area.

Other blasts were in the areas of Nayanadhalli, Adugudi, Rajaram Circle, Anepallya and Ashok Nagar.

The injured have been taken to Bangalore’s St John’s hospital.

A large part of India’s IT and outsourcing business is concentrated in Bangalore.

Dozens of large international firms like Microsoft, Intel and IBM also have offices in the city which is often called the Silicon Valley of India.

There have been a number of blasts in Indian cities in recent years.

They are almost always blamed on foreign militants but there have been no significant arrests or convictions in any of the cases.

Police with sniffer dogs search one of the damaged areas
Bengaluru has been attacked. Low intensity blasts in a span of one hour in six different places rocked the IT capital of India on Friday afternoon in which two people died and several others were injured. While the first seven blasts took place between 1.30-2.30 pm, the eighth blast blast took place at Hosaguddahalli, near Gopalan Mall, on Mysore road at around 5.30 pm and the ninth blast took place near the R V Engineering College on Mysore Road at 6.30 pm. The Bengaluru police have termed it as an act of terror.

The first two blasts occurred at Adugodi at 1.30 pm behind the famous Forum Mall, which is a major shopping destination in Bengaluru. The second bomb was placed near a granite factory under some granite slabs.

The blast at Madiwala occured near the check post at 1.50 pm, which were followed by a blast at Nayandahalli in a bus shelter at 2.10 pm. Between 2.10 and 2.30 pm very low intensity blasts were reported near the Mallya hospital at a park and on Richmond and Langford road.

A woman who died in the blasts has been identified as Lakshmi. She, along with her husband, was standing at the bus stop when the explosion occurred. Reports suggest that she was hit on the head by a bolt. He husband Ravi has also been injured in the attack. Five other persons have been injured in the blasts.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Shankar Bidri said the blasts were of low intensity and gelatin sticks were used.

Preliminary investigations show that the bombs were attached to a timer device and were triggered off by a mobile phone. A similar pattern was used in the Hyderbad twin blasts and also at Jaipur and Ajmer.

While various theories are being floated regarding the cause of the blasts, the police maintain that it was only to scare people and create law and order problems.

While the Intelligence Bureau are not ruling out the hand of the Students Islamic Movement of India behind the blasts, the cops maintain that it is too early to blame anyone.

The IB says that the attack could be three pronged — one to scare the IT sector in Bengaluru, two to warn the Karnataka police in the wake of the arrests of SIMI cadres in Karnataka which led to the arrests of 10 supremos of SIMI in Indore and lastly as a retaliatory measure since the Bharatiya Janata Party is in power for the first time in south India.

Looking closely at the manner in which the attacks were carried out, the IB says that it was more of an attempt to scare the people rather than kill. The bombs were of low intensity and the places in which they were hidden is a clear indication that the intention was more to scare the general public and in the case of the Madiwala and Adugodi explosions, the IT sector in particular. There are large number of IT professionals living in these two areas.

Moments after the explosions, panic set in Bengaluru city. People were seen running helter skelter at the blast sites, while the rest of the city remained tense. What made matters worse was that all mobile lines were jammed and people were trying desperately to contact their near and dear ones.

However, shops and establishments did not down shutters and offices and schools remained open even after hearing the news of the blasts. The only effect of the blasts were traffic jams all across the city.

On the spot, people looked shaken up and were in a daze following the explosions. They said they heard a loud explosion and when they looked around there was dust that had kicked up and several window panes shattered.

The police were quick to get into the thick of the action and both the dog squad and the forensic team were pressed into service.

Bidri assured the people that the situation was under control and there was no cause for panic. He said that security had been beefed up and the police have taken stock of the situation.

Gopal Hosur, joint commissioner, crime, said that there was nothing to worry. He said that the blasts were low intensity in nature. He assured the people that the situation was under control.

Images of Banglore Blast…

A string of nine bomb blasts one after another shook Karnataka’s capital during the busy lunch hour today, leaving two killed and 20 injured.

The crude bombs, concealed near refugee camps and roadside stuffed with nuts and bolts, exploded between 1.30 p.m. and 1.45 p.m. at Adugodi, Madivala, Nayandahalli, Mysore Road, Richmond Circle, Pantharapalya and Vittal Mallya Road.

Two persons were killed and 12 injured in the blasts, Home Minister Shivraj Patil said in New Delhi.

A woman waiting at a bus stop in Madivala on the Bangalore-Hosur Road was killed in the blast, while her husband and another person were seriously injured.

Four of the blasts were between Hosur Road and Madiwala; the other three at Nayandahalli, Vittal Mallya Road and Richmond Circle, City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari told reporters.

Except in two places, low intensity explosives were used for the blasts, which occurred within a few minutes of each other, he said.

Police have recovered gelatin sticks, mainly used in quarry operations, from one of the blast sites.

No group claimed immediate responsibility for the blasts. However, sources in the Union Home Ministry said that the hand of local cadre of banned SIMI was suspected to be behind the blasts and the expertise in assembling the low intensity devices possibly being provided by Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Taiba.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh strongly condemned the serial blasts and asked the people to remain calm and maintain communal harmony. He announced Rs.One lakh ex-gratia to the next of kin of each of the deceased.

Blaming anti-national and anti-social elements for the serial blasts in Bangalore, the BJP government in Karnataka today said they seemed to be part of a pre-determined plan to malign it. Describing the blasts as a ‘cowardly act’ aimed at spreading panic and disrupting peace and normalcy, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today directed police to constitute a special team to probe the explosions.

Speaking after an emergency cabinet meeting which reviewed the situation arising out of the terror attacks, he said prima-facie, it appeared to be a pre-determined plan to malign his government. Asked who was behind the blasts, Yeddyurappa said it’s too early to say but “it appears to be the handiwork of anti-social, anti-national elements who wanted to create panic in the city.

It’s the handiwork of destructive and anti-national forces. It’s a pre-planned act”.

“Anti-national elements disturbing peace through violent activities will never be allowed to go scot-free”, he said. The blasts took place between 1.30 PM and 2.30 PM, the Chief Minister said adding one person was killed and seven were injured.

He said police have been directed to provide security to all sensitive places like bus stands, railway stations, airport and for the IT-BT (Information Technology-bio Technology) companies. Yeddyurappa said the Centre has been posted about the developments.

Government announced Rs one lakh for the family of the woman who was killed in the blasts. The injured would get between Rs 25,000 and Rs 50,000, he said and appealed to the people to remain calm and maintain peace.

 Forcing Email Read-Receipts

Author: Anup Shinde.

The basics

Many email spam programs
use this technique frequently to create effective spam. The article is completely meant for technical people, but I would try to ease it for the non-technical people,
as much as possible.

Note: This technique is not the one used by “Outlook Express” or other
software that have an option to request a mail read receipt. In this case we are
not requesting the client to send a receipt, but we are attempting our best to force
a read receipt.

Background

This technique is basically based on the HTML. Hypertext Markup Language, the coding
language used to create hypertext documents for the World Wide Web. In HTML, a block
of text can be surrounded with tags that indicate how it should appear (for example,
in bold face or italics). This allows electronic publishers to display rich or formatted
text/information on the Internet. Therefore, it creates a great substitute for the
plain-text content.

HTML being a standard for web publishing and having rich-text functionality, today
most E-mail editors allows you to send HTML mails instead of plain text mails. Similarly
most of email software allows you to read HTML emails.

The technique that we are going to use here is based on a specific feature of HTML.
In HTML a word, a block of text, or an image can be linked to another file on the
Web. That another file could be on the same web or from another webpage.

This way the HTML email readers are expected to behave in the same way like the
web-browsers.

The trick

The HTML email readers will show all the content that the HTML specifies. Therefore
it will also show the external content if the HTML specifies it. Now the point here
is that the external content is shown. This external content can be anything, including
anything we link it to.

So if I specified an image into the HTML mail with its source from my site as:

<img src = “http://myserver.com/my_picture.jpg” width=”470″
/>

It would
directly show the image as if it was embedded inside the mail, though it
came from outside.

Suppose I want a receipt for the mail written to my colleague Keane. How would I
do it?

As you see, the “<IMG>”  tag points to an image on my server. But what if I do not point the source to an image, but to some scripted dynamic page that
takes the shortened subject of the mail as a parameter. Whenever the mail is opened,
the page will get accessed.

We can script this page to perform some activities like sending a mail receipt to
us. Since we do not want the image to expose the trick, we reduce its size to “
1×1 pixels”

<IMG src=”http://myserver.com/receipt.aspx?id=HelloKeane&#8221;
height = “1px” width=”1px” />

So we can brief that: Whenever the
HTML email is displayed; the image source will be accessed. And whenever the image-source
is accessed, we get a mail saying that the subjected mail has been read.

How to plant a “force-receipt” image?

I will explain a very raw method of
doing this.

–> First create a “.html” page. Say “somereceipt.html”.

–> Open it with notepad and put the following line into it.

<IMG src=”http://myserver.com/receipt.aspx?id=HelloKeane&#8221;
height = “1px” width=”1px” />

–> Save the file and close it.

–> Double-click and open the HTML file (in IE or other browser).

–> Press “Ctrl + A” (Select All) and then “Ctrl + C” (Copy).

Open your HTML email editor (Outlook or GMail…anything) and at the end of the mail
press “Ctrl + V”. This will plant the receipt image into the mail. You can send
that mail whenever you want.

The problem with the “raw” method is that you will yourself trigger the mail receipt
while opening the HTML page and while pasting it in your email editor. You’ll just
need to ignore these.

People who want to use it regularly can use the services from “DidTheyReadIt or ReadNotify”. These services make the procedure very simple.

Sending a read-receipt mail and other details (Using ASP.NET 2.0)

Here comes the more technical part. I am writing a page in ASP.NET 2.0, but you
can use any other platform.

As discussed
above, we are a passing a query-string parameter to the page.
Here, this query string contains the subject that we wrote in the email. You could have
other parameter(s) as required.

As soon as the web page (that we scripted) receives these parameters, it sends us
the mail that the subjected mail was read.

What all information can we get?

Since the browser/mail reader is indirectly accessing our page, we can get all the
information that the browser can provide. For example: IP Address, Browser/Machine
information. But there is much more that the browser can give away.

Get your browser spied at http://gemal.dk/browserspy/.

The pages in the above link give a lot of information about your browser and machine.

Here the attached sample code will send a mail receipt along with some easily accessible
browser information. This sample creates a HTML mail, to show the information in
a formatted manner.

To gather the information about the browser we can use the “Request.Browser.Capabilities”
dictionary object available in .NET 2.0.

To get some other information the code uses the following:

  • Request.UserHostAddress
  • Request.UserHostName
  • Request.AcceptTypes
  • Request.UserLanguages

Details of these classes can be found at MSDN.

In the “Page_Load” event itself, we are creating the HTML mail to be sent to us.
The “Request.Browser.Capabilities” object gives us a “System.Collections.IDictionary”
type. We iterate through the “Key, value” pair in the dictionary and display the information, as shown below.

System.Collections.IDictionary oDictionary = Request.Browser.Capabilities;
            foreach(System.Collections.DictionaryEntry
oDictionaryEntry in oDictionary)
            {

                  sHTML += <tr>”;
                  sHTML += “<td>”
+ (oDictionaryEntry.Key == null ? “NULL” : oDictionaryEntry.Key.ToString()) + “</td>”;

                  sHTML += “<td>”
+ (oDictionaryEntry.Value==null?”NULL”:oDictionaryEntry.Value.ToString()) + “</td>”;
                  sHTML += “</tr>”;

            }

This trick may not always work, especially with the famous public email services.
They take enough steps to restrict it, since it is an indirect disclosure of privacy.
As the image points to the external content, the user is required to be connected
to internet if the receipt is to be received. Also the HTML email reader must be
available to the user.

How service providers are restricting it?

Mail service providers like GMail, Yahoo and Hotmail do restrict these things. They
simply restrict it by not allowing the “External” content to be displayed. As the
image in the above example points to the external content (on your site), this will
also get restricted. But it still works with Outlook and many other web-mail services.
It will still take time to be restricted from most places. Till then …Enjoy!!!.

A US military jury has acquitted a marine of charges that he helped cover up the killing of 24 unarmed Iraqi civilians in Haditha in 2005.

Lt Andrew Grayson had been charged with obstruction of justice and making false statements – charges he denied. He had been accused of instructing a sergeant to delete digital photographs of the incident. Four marines and four officers were initially charged in the case, but the case against five of them was dropped. The marines were charged with murder and the officers with failing to investigate the deaths. The trial is being held at Camp Pendleton, a military base in California. Lt Grayson was the first to be tried. Cheers
In closing arguments the prosecution claimed Lt Grayson had lied to investigators five times, while the defence said the case was the result of a botched investigation conducted under heavy media scrutiny. Cheers erupted as his acquittal was announced, the Associated Press news agency reported. The killings occurred after a roadside bomb in Haditha on 19 November 2005 left one marine dead and injured two others. The US military at first reported that the Iraqis had been killed by that explosion, or in a subsequent gunfight with insurgents. But Iraqi witnesses said the US troops shot dead five unarmed men when they approached the scene of the bombing in a car. The troops were then accused going to nearby houses and killing 19 other civilians. There was no full US investigation into what happened until January 2006, when video footage emerged of the aftermath, filmed by a local human rights activist.
A subsequent investigation by Time magazine suggested that most of the dead were shot by marines after the bombing – and in March 2006 a criminal investigation was launched. The following month, three officers in charge of troops in Haditha were stripped of their command and reassigned. Those accused of involvement in the incident have maintained they were reacting to insurgent fire.  Two marines still face court martial. Staff Sgt Frank Wuterich has been charged on nine counts of voluntary manslaughter, and battalion commander Lt Col Jeffrey Chessani has been charged with dereliction of duty and violation of a lawful order.
